Oh shit, it's March already?

What've you been listening to? I've pretty much given up keeping up with new artists – bands, MCs, DJs, whatever. Which doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping up with new music, cos I have. Just that most of the stuff I listen to nowadays are either new releases by old artists, or old releases by even older artists (as it normally is with the jazz I listen to). That, and the regular Stones Throw podcasts as well as the odd Breezeblock or Worldwide show.

I dunno. Is music generally boring this past year or am I just getting (gasp!) too old for all this new stuff? That can't be possible. I mean, come on, my body is similar to that of a Greek statue – sculpted and rock hard, every inch of it (and I mean every inch, ladies). If I were old I wouldn't be able to look like that now would I?

Perhaps the internets is partly to blame. Access to new music is far too easy and quick in this day and age which in turn leaves no time for new artists to, you know, marinate for a little longer, so to speak. Just to see if they're really worth the buzz.

Maybe it all boils down to me being tired, that's all. When you spend the most part of your day stuck in an air-conditioned office it drains you mentally. When I come home and see the bed in my room all I wanna do is lie down, put my headphones on and fall asleep. And I do, 90% of the time. Amazingly, I somehow manage to always wake up without my headphones on without ever recalling taking them off.

A big thank-you to all the people who contacted me for tracklists to the jazz mixes that I've been making. Proof that some of you out there do have good taste in music. The rest of you suck.
