I've been thinking about shutting this site down for a very long time now. I started this website as a means of sharing my pictures. Then blogging became the next big thing, and I decided to jump on the bandwagon. There was a lot more to talk about back when I was in London, but since I came back to KL my social life has only been going downhill. Hence the twice-a-month blog entries of late. I tried turning it into an MP3 blog cos everyone else had one. But that didn't work out either. Then came making online mixes, but everything after the first one has been pretty shit. I'm so embarrassed that I don't even dare listen to them myself.

Look, before I go on, this is not another rant about London being great and all that. London was shit. Yes it was. I was jobless, I was wasting my parents' money away, living with my sister was awful and I could spend days without actually uttering a single word to anyone.

Yeah, 'make the best out of what you have', I know. But when there's nothing to look forward to every morning you wake up, the last thing you want to do is blog. Besides, no one likes reading mope-blogs.

And for some reason girls have stopped talking to me. I dunno. I used to do okay. Then it all went pear-shaped. And last night wasn't any better. Either she really hated me or she's just being a snob. Who answers, "So you're from Singapore?" with a single, "Yeah."?

Can you hear that? It's the world's smallest violin playing just for me. How nice.

But I'm heading to Singapore to see Tortoise next month. Hopefully that will cheer me up a little.

From a local weekend paper:

"The Goat will not appreciate the quick and erratic pace of the Rooster year. Though he will be able to dodge what surprises may be thrown his way, he will not take chances. And rightly so, since not much will go right with the Goat person this year. He may find his plans scuttled and romance fizzling. Unexpected turn of events can upset the best of plans, so always work with a contingency plan in mind. Things will right themselves if the Goat's birth element is compatible with wood."

Hooray. Another great year ahead.

Oh, and this, from Michelle:

What's the total size of music files on your computer?
11.3GB. While we're at it, lemme just add that I have 147 CD-Rs and three DVDs of archived MP3s as well. I have a Microsoft Access database that I use to keep track of which album's on which CD. I know those aren't exactly on my computer, but I hardly get to brag about this, so there.

What is the last CD you bought?
I bought three CDs from DjangosThe Best of The Free Design, Panda Bear's Young Prayer and Gary Wilson's Mary Had Brown Hair.

What is the last song you listened to before you read this post?
Eh … right now I have The Books' 'It Never Changes To Stop' playing in the background. Has some nice, swelling strings on it, like something off David Byrne and Ryuichi Sakamoto's soundtrack to The Last Emperor. Backed by a banjo.

Name four songs that you listen to a lot or that mean a lot to you.
Talk Talk – 'New Grass'
I love this song so much that I only allow myself to listen to it in a quiet room with a pair of headphones. Mark Hollis sounds like he's in tears, the skittery drum track is perfect, the guitar is plaintive and sad, and the double bass is like the drop of water that causes the ripple in an otherwise still pond. And then there's the last minute or so where the song does an about turn and takes you to a different place. I don't know how else to describe it! Listen!

Crooklyn Dodgers '95 – 'Return Of The Crooklyn Dodgers'
DJ Premier struck gold with this track, IMHO. That piano sample, gawd, how did he ever think of looping it like that? This is my favouritest hip-hop track ever.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth – 'One In A Million'
This means a lot to me, because it reminds me of a particularly happy time in my life where my friends were good and my life was great.

Photek – 'Ni Ten Ichi Ryu'
The best drum'n'bass track ever! I've listened and analysed the drum programming on this track so many times that I can recreate everything in my head. You'll be hard pressed to find anything else like it.

Which three people are you passing the baton on to and why?
Jo: Cos she's cool and loves music, although we don't see eye to eye on Anticon.
Keith: Cos he's also cool and loves music as well.
Daryll: Cos he's the only other dude I know in person who has all the Headz albums on Mo'Wax.
